Windhorse Publications
How It Started
How It's Going
Windhorse Publications was founded in 1974 to make the teachings of Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Community, more widely available. Starting as a small, volunteer-driven initiative, it aimed to support the spiritual growth of the Triratna community by publishing key works on Buddhism and Dharma practice. Over the years, Windhorse expanded its catalogue to include works by other Triratna authors, offering accessible resources for deepening Buddhist understanding.
Today, Windhorse Publications thrives as a respected Buddhist publisher, offering both print and digital books on meditation, mindfulness, and Buddhist philosophy. Operating in an expensive and challenging market, Windhorse has received vital support from FutureDharma donors, whose generosity has enabled repeat grants. These grants have ensured the Windhorse can continue to operate sustainably, making Dharma teachings available to a global audience.
With Sangharakshita’s teachings at the core, Windhorse remains a key part of Triratna’s mission to spread the Dharma in today’s world.
