Apply for Seed Funding
Quick and easy process for grants under £3,000 to support your inspiration.
Who Can Apply for Seed Funding?
Our small grants are designed for new or developing projects which are growing or deepening the Triratna Buddhist Community. In the past, small grant recipients have included paying for travel costs, meditation gear, refurbishments, etc.
- Open to any organisation within the Triratna Buddhist Community
- Projects must demonstrate how they will foster at least one of our FutureDharma values. (See below.)
- Funding requests should be under £3,000.
Future Dharma Values
We're here to support projects that enrich Triratna with:
Breadth
International growth and diversity
e.g. New centres or groups in new locations, projects or activities for under-represented groups – including younger people, new initiatives for living or working together.
Depth
Training in Sangharakshita's system of Dharma life
e.g. Dharma teacher training and resources, ordination training support, residential communities, or team-based right livelihoods.
Unity
Coordination and leadership
e.g. Infrastructure, projects and roles fostering and enabling unity, liaison, collaboration and direction.
Application Process
Step 0: Discuss Your Idea With Us (optional)
If you'd like to, you're very welcome to reach out and talk over your idea with us before making an application.
Step 1: Consult and Imagine
Before applying, we encourage you to ask yourself the following questions:
- Have you spoken to the people you’re hoping to work with to make the project happen? Are they inspired by your idea?
- Have you spoken to the people you believe your project will benefit? Are they excited about your plans?
- Have you thought through the practicalities? How long will each stage of the project take? What resources will you need to make each stage happen, and have you researched the items in your budget?
- What relationships will you need to build within the Sangha to make your idea a reality?
We receive more applications that we are able to fund. We can assist you with the application process, but we look for well-planned, high-value projects to support.
Step 2: Submit a Grant Application
Once you've answered the questions above and filled out a grant application form, email it to applications@futuredharma.org and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
If your application is successful, you can expect to receive the grant within 3 months of your application.
Step 3: Spread the Dharma! (And Keep Us Updated)
We'll ask you for photos, videos, and stories about your project so that we can share your great work with our supporters.
