A Home for the Malta Sangha
How It Started
How It's Going
Aksobhin was battling cancer when he moved to the small mediterranean island of Malta. A few years later, in February 2022, he decided to begin offering meditation classes and Buddhism to the population of the predominantly Catholic country. He found a shared space he could hire out once a week and in under two years the Malta Sangha was thriving. But the space shared with other groups didn’t give a solid enough atmosphere for deeper practice and in early 2024 some of the enthusiastic Sangha members urged Aksobhin to press on with getting their own dedicated space.
Aksobhin found an office space and took a lease out for two years. He asked Future Dharma for a grant to fund the refurbishment necessary to turn the premises into a beautiful space which would inspire people’s practice. The Malta Sangha now has it’s own spiritual home and can offer more classes that cater for people at different stages of their journey with Triratna as well as run more events for the growing Sangha. There is now a core regulars group of over 30 people, including four mitras, two of whom are training for Ordination.
