Subhuti's two month visit to Mexico

Latin America and Mexico in particular, offer great opportunities as their thirst for the Dharma and the Triratna movement there is at a very important stage.

70 people had their first Mexican Order weekend and Subhuti toured the region for two months to help the movement develop and go deeper

Upekshamati arrived back in his Mexican homeland 30 years ago, two years a Dharmachari and just 30 years old with surplus funds and guidance Sangharakshita gifted him. There are now over 70 active Order members, and four well-established centres, as well as groups elsewhere. There is remarkable warmth and enthusiasm of those running and attending the Sangha activities and the amazing atmosphere of goodwill and receptivity is an important reason to invest further in Mexico, and other Latin American countries.

At this stage of development, the time had come to further build the necessary institutions for an effective Sangha and to organise for the more dynamic spreading of the Dharma throughout the huge country and beyond. With four Public Preceptors now resident in Mexico, over his two month visit Subhuti was able to offer his own support, sharing his wisdom and vision from his time as a founding member of the Preceptors’ College as well as inspiring many people as he toured the country.
