Kalyana Mitrata to Triratna Brazil
How It Started
How It's Going
Dublin-born Manjupriya is the only Order Member in Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world. He has been tirelessly bringing the Buddha Dharma to a small but growing group of people in São Paulo for many years.
The Sangha now has between 30-35 regular participants and Manjupriya runs a full weekly programme of Triratna events online in Portuguese as well as regular online and in person retreats. Four people have become mitras, two of whom are training for ordination.
Manjupriya applied to Future Dharma for funding to cover the travel costs of bringing Order Members, who had already connected with the Sangha online, to Brazil to run events and deepen friendships.
The Sangha runs on a tight budget and international flights are very expensive, especially with the current weak local currency.
Future Dharma granted the support sought by Manjupriya in full. The funds have since covered the cost of Nagapriya traveling from Mexico to conduct mitra ceremonies. They also funded Bodhikamala to travel from Mexico to run retreats for women and for Vajragupta to travel from London for a number of presidential visits.
