Ayr Sangha Start-up Costs
How It Started
How It's Going
Setting up a new Sangha is no easy feat and, aside from the devotion, inspiration, and motivation of key members, there are many small 'mundane' items that are absolutely essential. Ayr initially was able to borrow equipment, such as meditation mats and cushions, from the Glasgow Sangha – but it was never a long-term solution.
A grant from Future Dharma allowed them to finally purchase their own.
Meditation equipment, shrine cloths, candles, incense, flowers, rupas, and even a kettle, tea and biscuits are a vital part of creating a welcoming and sacred space for people to gather and practice effectively.
The donations and encouragement from others allows an emerging Sangha to focus on building connection and activities without certain obstacles. It boosts confidence, highlights Dana in action, and allows the team to feel supported and therefore thrive.
